The ESNNA Program and Our Commitment
Sexual exploitation is a violation of human rights and undermines the physical, social, and emotional development of girls, boys, and adolescents affected by this situation.
ESNNA can also manifest in various ways and in different contexts, such as:
- ESNNA in the field of tourism and travel
- ESNNA online (on the Internet and through the use of ICT)

In Perú
- According to an estimate from 2015, 3.98% of the total adult population in Peru acknowledged having been a victim of sexual exploitation before turning 18 years old.
- It is estimated that at the national level, the number of minors aged 10 to 17 exposed to possible sexual exploitation varies between 14,000 to 26,000 women (2015).
- Unfortunately, accessing official figures on the situation of victims of ESNNA in Peru is challenging.
In the world
- It is estimated that in Mexico, there are 20,000 victims of sexual exploitation in the context of tourism and travel, according to an estimation by Ecpat (2016).
- 100,000 children and adolescents are victims of sexual exploitation (ESNNA) in the Philippines, according to an estimation by Ecpat (2016).
- According to the most recent research on online sexual exploitation, 64.8% of the victims of child sexual abuse material are girls (Ecpat, 2018).
Concrete Actions – ESNNA Code
The adherence to the ESNNA Program Code of Conduct commits us to constantly implement a series of actions that are carried out and reinforced as part of our activities.
Our office staff, as well as the logistics staff (guides, chefs, drivers, porters), are duly trained to contribute to the Code of Conduct. Under no circumstances are offers made or requests entertained related to sexual tourism involving children or adolescents, whether to national or foreign tourists, for both ethical and legal reasons. In the same vein, we work together with our partners (hotels, restaurants, etc., and all their staff) to ensure that the objectives and commitments of the ESNNA program are met in all sectors and stages of the tourism services we provide.
All of us at Explora Cusco, as well as our partners in our operations, are committed to enforcing the ESNNA Code of Conduct and reporting to the authorities when necessary.
The actions of the ESNNA code and Explora Cusco take precedence within our social responsibility policies. We seek to ensure that tourism is an activity that brings only benefits to the region and the country, in accordance with the mission, vision, and corporate values.
